Back Charleston Double Roll Round

In this move (also known as a 'Whirlybird') both partners rotate on the spot, but in opposite directions like cog wheels—the leader to his left (anticlockwise), the follower to her right (clockwise). The opposite rotation also means that the dancers can maintain their double hand hold throughout the move.

This move does not use the normal Back Charleston footwork; instead the dancers perform three kicks with their left feet as they turn. The first of these kicks occupies the place where the rock step movement of the Back Charleston would normally be, which means that the leader has to start leading the rotation slightly in advance of this step so that the follower can sense that something different is occurring.
