The Return is a fundamental move in Modern Jive, frequently used as punctuation
between other moves. Because of its ubiquity, it contributes to the in-and-out character
of Modern Jive—the three steps of the move have a clear sequence of out-in-out.
One. The leader moves his left hand in a small semicircle as both dancers step backwards away from each other.

Two. The leader first pulls his left hand towards himself so that both dancers step in towards each other. The leader then lifts his left hand in front of the follower's face to lead the follower to turn 360° under her right hand.

Three. As the follower completes her turn, the leader lowers his left hand and steps back away from the follower.
