Throw Out

Rhythmically, this move has the same structure as the Come Around, repeated twice: 123x56x8 123x56x8. For the first four beats, the leader is opening up the position so that there is more space between the dancers. This indicates to the follower that a different move is in progress, so she can vary her step rhythm from a Balboa Basic. This more open position can also be achieved by preceding this move with the Cross Overs.

For the second four beats, the leader pulls the follower towards himself as he steps out of the way (in a manner that is similar to beat 5 of the Lindy Turn). As she steps past, the follower turns clockwise to face the leader, and then continues that rotation until it is stopped by her arm wrapping across her body. The momentum of this halted rotation continues on in the form of the follower's kick, and then like an elastic band the follower reverses her rotation and starts to turn anticlockwise.

The third four beats involve the follower turning anticlockwise under her right arm, returning to closed position as the turn completes, so that the final four beats are a return to the normal Balboa Basic rhythm.

At the end of move, the dancers transition back to the Balboa Basic.

1. M:BL W:FR Start from an closed position, with the leader's left hand holding the follower's right hand. The leader takes a step backward on his left foot. The follower takes a step forward on her right foot.

The follower takes a step backward on her right foot, continuing to turn slightly to her right, continuing to turn with because of the momentum of the turning motion so far.
7. M:PxR W:KxL The leader points with his right foot across and in front of his other foot. The follower performs a kick with her left foot across and in front of her other foot, using the momentum of her turning motion to make the kick, then springing back in the opposite direction.
8. M:FR W:FL1L The leader takes a step forward on his right foot, starting to lift the follower's right hand with his left hand for her to turn under. The follower takes a step forward on her left foot, turning slightly to her left.
1. M:FL1R W:FR2L The leader takes a step forward on his left foot, turning slightly to his right. The follower takes a step forward on her right foot, continuing to turn another 90° to her left, turning under her right hand.
2. M:TR1R W:TL2L The leader closes his right foot to his left foot, continuing to turn slightly to his right, holding out right hand to catch the follower around her waist. The follower closes her left foot to her right foot, continuing to turn another 90° to her left, finishing her turn under her left hand.
3. M:TL W:TR The leader closes his left foot to his right foot. The follower closes her right foot to her left foot, lifting her left elbow up so her arm is above the leader's right arm (being careful not to elbow the leader in the face!). (image: follower lifts arm)
4. M:StR W:StL The leader lifts his right foot next to his left foot, with the right knee bent. The follower lifts her left foot next to her right foot, with the left knee bent.
5. M:TR W:TL The leader closes his right foot to his left foot. The follower closes her left foot to her right foot.
6. M:TL W:TR The leader closes his left foot to his right foot. The follower closes her right foot to her left foot.
7. M:PbR W:PefL The leader points backward with his right foot, sliding the foot backwards. The follower points slightly forward with her left foot, sliding the foot forwards along the floor.
